Telopea Downs Safe Haven Project

Carbon Landscapes is working with Zoos Victoria and Trust for Nature to create a ‘safe haven’ for threatened species that were once common in the north-west of Victoria. Over 800 hectares of Mallee Woodland and Shrubland will become potential habitat for species such as the Mallee Emu-wren, Malleefowl and Western Quoll.

Stony Rises Rewilding Project

Carbon Landscapes is partnering with Odonata, Natural Glenelg Trust and the Stony Rises Land Management Network to ‘rewild’ over 400 hectares of threatened Stony Rise Woodland. We are working to understand how best to use this amazing habitat to support potential endangered fauna species such as the Spotted-tailed Quoll, Koala and Long-nosed Potoroo.

Gariwerd Restoration Project

Carbon Landscapes is working with Odonata, Parks Victoria and the Natural Glenelg Trust to restore over 90 hectares of habitat adjacent to the Gariwerd (Grampians) National Park with the intent to reestablishing native fauna populations for future release into the Park. Potential species include the endangered Long-nosed Potoroo, Brush-tailed Rock-wallaby and Eastern-barred Bandicoot.

Trees for Koala Habitat Project

Carbon Landscapes is working in partnership with Heartwood and landowners with private forestry plantations, to transition low-value timber into high-value Koala habitat. Rather than clear low-value blue gum plantations, we are working with foresters to preserve these plantations, adding other biodiversity values such as mid and lower story indigenous plants and leaving fallen timber to create habitat for other native fauna.

Bringing back the Long-Nosed Potoroo

Carbon Landscapes is excited to announce that it has purchased over 90 hectares of land adjacent to the Grampians National Park, to begin its first stage of its Gariwerd Restoration Project. Surrounded by three sides of the Park, this ex-bluegum plantation, with existing ephemeral wetlands and patches of remnant vegetation, will be restored back to its original vegetation type to bring back native mammal species such as the Long-nosed Potoroo.
